It’s been about a week since\u00a0the El Ni\u00f1o storms first hit\u00a0San Diego county.\u00a0Flood and tornado warnings make for an interesting start to the year, but the rain\u00a0is welcome and so is the fresh air that comes afterward.<\/p>\n
One unexpected realization: how cozy it is to huddle under an\u00a0umbrella with someone. Twice last week\u00a0I was saved by friends who were more prepared than me. Significant height differences\u00a0determine\u00a0who holds the umbrella and who is the one crouching.<\/p>\n
There is also a certain point when the wind and rain become so strong\u00a0that\u00a0instead of fighting the storm you just accept all of it (including the soaked underpants)\u00a0and close the umbrella.<\/p>\n
