Trump is pulling the United States out of the climate accord. How sad. Individual cities, companies, and states (hooray California) have pledged to commit to the accord in spite of his decision, but I wonder how far-reaching the consequences will be. I’ve seen similar comments on Brexit last year, and just about anything involving the health of the European Union or whatever backward health bill today’s Republican-controlled Congress has rushed to pass.
Human beings can plan and worry themselves silly when it comes to an uncertain future. (For me, those panicky sweats are more annoying than useful on a regular week). But when it comes to decisions about the well-being of the planet and global community, I think it’s a helpful voice to listen to.
